On October 10, Affordable Homes & Communities (AHC) held its 2024 Celebration at The Westerly, the newest AHC community in Washington, D.C. It was a wonderful evening of conversation and connection with many partners. The event's theme was "Opening Doors, Building Opportunities."
The event kicked off with tours of the building, giving attendees a glimpse into what it’s like for residents living at The Westerly. Hilary Chapman, AHC Board Vice-Chair, inspired the crowd with insights into AHC's mission and impact in the community.
Patrice Williams, an AHC resident, shared her experience living at The Westerly and what this community has meant to her.
"Living here at The Westerly has given me a sense of stability, community, and safety," Patrice said.
Paul Bernard, AHC President & CEO, provided organizational updates and thanked AHC's corporate partners for helping drive change and transform lives.
A special thank you to Tracy Hadden Loh with the Brookings Metro Center for Transformative Placemaking for her captivating keynote about the importance of transit-oriented housing.
